School

School is much more fun when you aren't the student. Today when I dropped Matthew off, a little boy said ""Hi Matthew's mommy!" It was so cute. I think I may want to teach children as a profession, but I don't think I want the kindergartners. I think 2nd grade would be ideal. When I went to check on Matthew last night, he had a batman band-aid on his face (very Nelly-like). That was fun to take off this morning. Of course, he wouldn't talk to me for 5 minutes after yanking it off because I hurt him. No ill feelings toward Daddy who was the one who put it there in the first place. I have to make the lunches every day. I wish Matthew could read so I could put notes in his lunchbox. Smiley faces and I heart U's only go so far. Besides, I don't think he likes the hearts. I'm not allowed to give him a goodbye kiss in front of the other kids. I got to hug him today because he saw some other kid get a hug. That made it alright. He had to wear his spirit shirt. He's got that spirit! He's got that spirit! Every Friday, they wear spirit shirts to get the school mascot in their classroom for a week. My son's teacher, when she was new to the school, found the mascot in her classroom, decided it was taking up too much space, and threw it away. 10 minutes later, she's in the dumpster getting it back out after several teachers found out what had happened. With my luck, I'd have put it in the dumpster, and the garbage truck would empty it before I got there. I can't remember anything truly hysterical that Matthew said yesterday. We had a really good conversation about the difference between insects and arachnids, exoskeletons vs. endoskeletons, and how a millipede is different from a centipede and how those are different from a caterpillar. This was while we ate lunch and the bugs tried to feast on us and our food. Maybe we'll have something new today when he comes home.
